Hello! I am Charlie, lover of cheese bones (from the dog bakery) and pup cups. I was a stray and rescued by my family 1 year ago! So happy to have found my furever family and I love them so much š«¶š¼

Charlie is a husky mix. Weāre not sure of his exact DNA but we believe he is part husky, part malamute. He was a stray and wandered into an LA animal shelter. He was rescued by my family and I one year ago. According to the shelter, he didnāt receive much interest, which shocked us all because heās such a well-trained & good boy! The shelter also believed he was hit as he is missing a few teeth on one side of his face. But we are so happy we found him and he can be a part of our family now!!

Bentley was supposed to be a foster for his dad that was living on the streets. One year turned into two years. His visitations stopped after the first year. His dad was never in a position to take him back, so he made the best decision for Bentley and let us keep him.His nose says it all. ā¤ļø

This sweet boy was found in a hoarder home at 9 months old. He was very sick and spent 3 weeks in the hospital close to death. He must have known we needed him because when they gave him 24hrs, he suddenly started improving! We knew the minute we first saw him we had to give him the loving home he deserved! He has become the companion we all needed. He's loving, playful, protective and so very sweet!

We rescued Nina from an animal shelter in Tracy, CA about 5-1/2 years ago. Sheās not just our pet, sheās our baby. Nina is sassy, sweet, and gives THE BEST sniffs. She loves her fresh out of the dryer towels after having a bath and zooming all over the place afterwards. We call that her post bath zoomies :) She has a great personality and always greets you with happy sneezes and ahwoos. Nina absolutely loves kids and treats new puppies introduced in our family as if they were her own babies. Dashās mom was found in a cardboard box, abandoned, pregnant, and on her death bed. She was taken in by Hearts for Hounds Resuce in VA Beach, where she was nursed back to health and she delivered Dash and his 6 siblings. He is literally the BEST dog we could have ever asked for. He is full of energy and cuddles and is such a well behaved pup. Our family wouldnāt be complete without him.

Trapper hats are cozy

Tucker was rescued in August 2019. He turned three in April and is a wonderful addition and blessing to our family. He is very gentle, personable and is always game for an adventure. Heās our fourth rescue and we wouldnāt have gotten him any other way!

Ruger, my copilot, ready for action!

We had lost our first rescue, Barney, to cancer and we werenāt sure if we were ready to be pet parents again. A friend encouraged us to go to an adoption fair. I had my husband go first and told him to call me if he thought I should come. He called and I went. I got there and cried in my car. Assuming it was a mix of emotions, missing our first ābabyā but wanting to save another. Ruger (then Daryl) was brought up north on a transport that operates to help get dogs adopted and keep them out of kill shelters. My husband didnāt say if he chose one, he just let me look around. I kept going back to Ruger. I asked what his story was and they said he was found on the streets and was rescued and they thought he was about two years old. Without knowing it we both had chosen the same dog. We asked to see him and the rest is history. We didnāt know it at the time but this was his last chance. If he went back to Georgia he would have been put down. We saved him, but he also saved us. He loves us unconditionally and while we will always miss Barney, Ruger has helped heal the hole in our hearts. He is such a good boy and quite a love bug. He loves tennis balls, treats and his Daddy best. Mommy is ok too, especially if sheās cooking bacon. We encourage everyone to adopt from shelters or rescues!

The cutest and most resilient little 12 year old boxer boy

Busterās family was no longer able to take care of him when he was about a year and a half, so I gladly welcomed him to our home. When he was about 9 years old, our vet found cancer cells in his spleen. We were so fortunate that they were able to take his spleen out before the cancer spread. We were told we would be lucky if he made it another 6-8 monthsā¦that was almost three years ago!!! Buster is our little miracle dog. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Lola loves playing dress up for the holidays

Well, a neighbor of a coworker of my dad didn't care for the pups of the dog of her soon to be ex husband. My previous dog passed away a couple of months prior. I heard they had an English bulldog, wrong! Once i got her at 7am the next day, she was only 4 wks old. She was covered in fleas, ticks and my vet had to de work her twice. Who knows what would've happened to her if i didnt say yes. Now she is a crazy hyper 8 year old American Bulldog!š

She was found in a forest of some kind. She had fox tail buried in her so deeply that she needed surgery. We went to the shelter and weāre not planning on getting a dog but when she came up to the glass I knew it was inevitable. I told my family to not make eye contact with her but an hour later we had a dog. She seems to be afraid of the sun and doesnāt like walking on a leash I think she was abused and kept in the dark. She has the best heart though and just wants cuddles and loves. I carry her around in a bag and she loves people. Sheās stubborn, loving and weāre so grateful to have found her:)

Monster was the largest of his litter, energetic, super sweet, usually mellow, affectionate and always giving sweet hugs and kisses. He also steals treats digging into pockets and bags whenever he can. He has been super patient and a big brother to our second rescue pup teaching him the ropes. He loves cold weather, long long walks and hikes and being at the beach. He has great energy where people love being around him. He is a great mood boost and melts my heart.

She lost a sibling but 3 of the 4 pups survived. She has a scar on her back and weāre not sure from what. But she recently turned 5 months and sheās a bundle of joy.

Our very silly and handsome boy was dumped at the local shelter by his 1st family. The folks at Hearts for Paws out of Davis, CA placed him with his amazing fosters Juliet and Zack. He was spoiled by a bunch of UC Davis students before we were lucky enough to adopt him. Mac is now in his forever home surrounded by family and friends (including a girlfriend or two!). Fingers crossed, heāll have a human sibling to play with soon!

Guero the lurcher!

Guero was in a shelter all his puppyhood. Wether it due to his colour or his bouncy personality at just 12 months old he was brought back to the shelter 4 times by people. Until he found his forever home here with us.
Despite being a lurcher (greyhound cross) he lives with two cats. One of which he loves the other he is scared of. Every night at 11pm he proceededs to get out every toy in his toy basket to play with, bringing us his kong puzzle toy to fill for him. He has now realised that we are his forever family and hates to be alone or away from us. Coming back from work we always get greeted by a big smile and a happy wagging tail. I think we are the lucky ones and he chose us.

I don't know how but Linus and all the other pups made it! Everyone was so surprised! The mom got adopted as well as all the puppies, and let me tell you they are all survivors!

It was a no brainer when we first saw Silas. He immediately ran around the yard with our other two boxers and we adopted him in the spot. Silas is a sweetheart and loves to cuddle. She is a very anxious dog who is scared of her own shadow but she is definitely a great communicator with us and we always know what she is saying! Her face tells all. Ruby is now 2 years old (we think) and has hit the terrible twos and is causing mischief every single day but we can not imagine life without her now. It is down to Rocky that we rescued Ruby as my son is obsessed with Rockyās you tube channel and would not have even considered getting any dog that wasnāt a rescue. So we all thank you for that.

Over 13 years ago we found her on the brink of starvation, and with a horrible infection on her ear. She was attacked by something and had been on the street for a while. She was skin and bones. But she's a fighter and came back strong. Best 13 years of my life. She is a perfect angel.

She is a perfect angel.BucaOver 13 years ago we found her on the brink of starvation, and with a horrible infection on her ear. She was attacked by something and had been on the street for a while. She was skin and bones. But she's a fighter and came back strong. Best 13 years of my life. She is a perfect angel.

I used to be a puppy mill mama. I was taken out of that horrible situation by the Florida Shih Tsu Rescue about 10 years ago. I think Iām 14 now. I found a great forever home with my new mom. I canāt hear and I have no teeth, which is why my tongue hangs out. You should see how long it gets when Iām thirsty! I canāt see very well (just contrast of things) so mom puts my dark treats on the light carpet. In spite of my little āproblems,ā I get around famously and am showered with love and snacks every day. My favorite thing to do is mostly hang out in my comfy bed. I can tell time, so I am always waiting in the kitchen for mealtime. And snacks. Which you can see in my picture. I share my forever home with two rescue Bichons. They have their own special āproblems,ā but mom loves us all and I am very happy with my life. Which you can also see in my picture! Happy and handsome Bronson loves adventuring!

Within one year we lost our 2 pitbulls to cancer at ages 11 and 13. After months of begging my boyfriend and showing him adoptable dogs at local shelters, he surprised me a Christmas with a note in a box that said "Let's get a dog!". I had my list ready and we went to the shelter to pick our next dog. Many on our list had already been taken and my boyfriend thought this black and white dog was not a good looking dog from his picture. But he was next on my list so we did a quick meet and greet and I fell in love and my boyfriend was pleasantly surprised at how good looking he actually he was. Unfortunately we had to wait a couple days to take him home because he had to have "the surgery" but it was the best Christmas ever!! He wasn't the easiest dog to handle on walks and has needed very rigorous training but he's come such a long way! We found out months later that he may have gotten hit by a car or beaten or something before being brought tot he shelter because he started limping one day after a lot of jumping around. He has issues with his spine but with some medicine and supplements and limited jumping we can still go on long walks and hikes and he is the happiest boy! He gets compliments all the time when we are walking about how good looking he is (I guess I'm just chopped liver haha!).

Scout was rescued as a puppy from a surrendered pit bull litter. He was originally āgrumpy,ā given from the 7 drawfs, He is a very shy and scared dog, and has a clip out of his ear which he has had since before we got him. He is extremely scared of men with hats so we believe maybe he was abused as a puppy? Besides being scared of most things, he loves hanging out with our neighbor dogs and cuddling all night. Scout is a huge treat lover as well, shown in the picture. He loves testing out all the treats I bake him and shares with his neighbor friends! He is about to turn 2 on May 4th also!š

We might of rescued her but she has rescued us because when we all had COVID and lost 6 close family members she was right there my our sides, in our most darkest time in our life she was there with us to comfort us. I had to quit work due to my MS and this little guy wandered in to my hubbyās job and he thought it would be a great rescue for us both and IT WAS! Poor guy had an obviously damaged back leg and after casts, many vet visits, and a hard decision, it had to be removed. It doesnāt slow this tripod down one bit! He is the sweetest, funnest, active, most loved furry son there is and has helped keep me active as well.

She loves fruits and veggies, even romaine lettuce! Her little mouth crunches on them and itās the cutest thing. She is my baby and I love her very much!

Moose was rescued almost 2 years ago. He was a very reactive, scared, and malnourished pup who was found on the streets. He was taken in by a lady and then returned to the shelter. This guy has so much personality and loves to play ball. Every morning he sneaks onto the bed to get some cuddles in with mom and dad. Loves treats, squirrels and long walks.

Mavis is our little rescue puppy. A friend heard from some people that there were some puppies living under a storage container that were not being taken care of and with limited food or water. So they went and got as many puppies as they could find and got them out of that place. We were given Mavis and the rest of the puppies were taken to good homes. When we got her she was covered in ticks and super dirty and terrified of the world now sheās happy and healthy and loves to play with her older brother and sister.

They are inseparable and do everything in unison which is very interesting to watch.

Blue was in a shelter for approximately 4 months, even though he was a young puppy at the time. He was adopted (at approximately 6 months) after our 5 year old son said āwe need to take him home because he needs bandaidsā. He had a severe skin infection and double ear infection as well as several types of intestinal worms. He has been with our family now for 8 months. Since adoption, Blue has a huge back yard to run in, a malinois brother to play with and two young kids to snuggle with. He may be a ātrash pandaā, thinking every meal and crum on the floor is his last meal, but he is extremely loved now! Blue seems to love his forever home and he is extemely loved by us. In this picture you see Blue worn out after a āparkourā session, as he likes to hurdle common household items and furniture and spring board off the couches and chairs.

Seen a picture of Dixie on a shelter website. She was scheduled to be euthanized at 7 months old. After seeing her picture there was something about her and I couldnāt let that happen. I rescued her two days before it was to take place. She came from a small shelter in Wasco California which doesnāt receive much outside help. We have had her now for 6 months.

From a stray with a broken leg, to a hiking mommaās gift!

When Aspen was baby, she was a stray in Texas and was hit by a car. She had a broken tibia, femur, and hip. No one wanted that responsibility. So I took her in at just 8 months old knowing she would need surgery and rehab. After a tough first 6 months of recovery, Aspen has been my full time hiking and running partner the last 4 years who snuggles up in a warm bed with her parents every night!

It was such a happy day when we adopted Wilson and peewee. They give us so much joy.

Wonderful Student!! Rosie is a puppy mill rescue who is blind in one eye and partial sight in the other. I adopted her 3 yr ago and she is my everything! She evolved from a frightened dog the froze on the lawn to a happy doggie that has zoomies on the lawn!!!

This is my brotherās dog who he adopted from a rescue husky organization in Atlanta. He had her for 10 years and she went from a scared abused pup to a gentle, sweet , obedient dog. All due to my brotherās love and patience. They were inseparable. He recently passed away from a heart attack and she stayed by his side for 3 days in his apartment, no barking, no messes. I know she was the last face and only face that brought him comfort. She was adopted by one of the policeman who helped us. She has a new wonderful family with a young girl. She will always have a special place in our family and will bring joy to that little girls family. If she did win I would like the award to go to the family who has her now.

I adopted Fenway on 12/31/17 in the middle of a polar vortex; 10 hour drive round trip. Fenway helped mend my heart after my first dog died. We love taking dog classes together: puppy classes, trick classes, and dog parkour! Fenway has hops! He can jump very high for a little guy. Fenway looks bigger than he is. He is tall, but only weighs in at 8lbs. Fenway travels with me as much as possible (car & plane). He is an awesome buddy! Fenway is a happy pup!

She was diagnosed with Chondroblastic osteosarcoma in 2021. To give her a pain free rest her days we amputated her affected limb. Now she's running around and enjoying the sun just like she used to.

We believe he was in a cage/kennel a lot because he came to us with a lot of phobias & aggression issues that tested our patience & training abilities. But he is the happiest & most loveable guy & makes us laugh daily. He's now 8 & a relatively well adjusted sweetheart that we absolutely adore!

I rescued both of my pups. But my chihuahua Rocco is the reason I can walk without any assistance. I was having multiple surgeries on my spine and my doc suggested I get a dog to help rehab. That little dog literally taught me to walk again. These two have saved my life in more ways than one. Rocco is now 15 and my Ruby girl is 8.

Zoey was rescued from animal control in 2011. She has stolen our hearts ever since, she is always happy, full of love and will lick you to death. She has been riddled with medical issues, has lost a toes and a tail. Recently hospitalized for an unexplained blood issue. We arent sure how much time we left with her, but we will love, kiss, squeeze and spoil her everyday! I never knew I could love a dog as much as her. Other than my husband she is undoubtedly the love of my life and we would do anything for her.

We rescued her when she was 3. She is tiny, weighing in at just under 6 pounds! She was sort of an accident... I went to look at the cats at the pound after I had to give up my pet pig (who's living his best life at a petting zoo now!) and she caught my eye. She's definitely a daddy's girl, she sleeps curled up against me every night. Taffys super power is taking up the entire bed while being like 6 inches long!

I went to look at the cats at the pound after I had to give up my pet pig (who's living his best life at a petting zoo now!) and she caught my eye. She's definitely a daddy's girl, she sleeps curled up against me every night. Taffys super power is taking up the entire bed while being like 6 inches long!

Wednesday Addams is now a seven year old āyoung at heartā lady. I fell in love with her eyes when I saw her on the shelter website . I knew I wanted to get her when she showed no interest to humans. She is fearful and nervous , but I found out quickly that when Wednesday wants something ā¦ she is very determined. Nothing will stop her . If she was a human child . I know she will be a straight A student . She loves napping , her dog Uncle Sam and eating . Not interested in toys or squirrels.

Paris Begging for Her Dinner

Paris rescued me at one-year old 5 years ago. She came to EGRR (a Golden Retriever Rescue) when her owners didnāt have time for her. Since she became part of our family, sheās earned Tricks titles and weāve earned many titles in Scent Work, which she loves doing, in containers, interiors, exteriors and vehicles. Paris has brought much joy to our family. I am so glad she rescued me!

OFFICIAL RULES
1. Sponsor: Rescue Dog Photo Contest (the "Contest") is sponsored by Rocky Kanaka and The Dog Bakery, 12112 Venice Blvd, Mar Vista, CA (the āSponsorā). The Sponsor is responsible for all aspects of the Contest. Participation in the Contest constitutes the participant's full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules, and Sponsorās decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.
2. Eligibility: Contest (the "Contest") is only open to participants who are legal residents of United States, and who are 13+ at the time of entry (the āEntrantā). Employees of Rocky Kanaka and The Dog Bakery (the "Sponsor"), their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, suppliers and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate in the Contest. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law, rule, or regulation.
3. Contest Period: Entries will be accepted online starting on April 30, 2022 at 12:00 AM and ending May 20, 2022 at 11:59 PM (the āEntry Periodā). All online entries must be received by Dec 01, 2020 11:59 PM . All times are PST. Entries submitted before or after the Entry Period will not be eligible. Sponsorās computer is the official timekeeping device for the Contest.
4. How to Enter: The Contest must be entered by submitting an entry using the online form provided on this site. The entry must fulfill all Contest requirements, as specified, to be eligible to win a prize. Entries that are not complete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of The Sponsor. You may enter only once and you must fill in the information requested. You may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple e-mail addresses, identities or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules. If you use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules your submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of The Sponsor.
5. Qualifying Submissions: Enter a photo of your rescue dog along with story about your dog. What makes them special? Why do you love your dog? Did they have any difficulties in life? Where did you rescue them?
6. Judging: The photo with the most votes will win. If there are any issues or ties, an employee will make the decision.
7. Prizes: The prizes are: 1st Place rescue Dog cookie collection from The Dog Bakery plus a Rescue Dog Tshirt. 2nd & 3rd place will each get a cookies collection.
The specifics of the prize shall be solely determined by the Sponsor. No cash or other prize substitution permitted except at Sponsor's discretion. The prize is nontransferable. Any and all prize related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and local taxes shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for the cash equivalent by winners is permitted. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for The Sponsor to use winner's name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
8. Winner Notification: Winners of the Contest will be notified via e-mail or phone to the e-mail address or phone number they entered into the Contest with within five (5) days following the winner selection. The Sponsor shall have no liability for a winner's failure to receive notices due to winners' spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for winners' provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If the selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 15 days from the time award notification was sent, or fails to timely return a completed and executed declaration and releases as required, prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected. The receipt by winner of the prize offered in this Contest is conditioned upon compliance with any and all federal and state laws and regulations. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY ANY WINNER (AT SPONSOR'S SOLE DISCRETION) WILL RESULT IN SUCH WINNER'S DISQUALIFICATION AS WINNER OF THE CONTEST AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.
9. Rights Granted by you: By entering this Contest you understand that The Sponsor, anyone acting on behalf of The Sponsor, or its respective licensees, successors and assigns will have the right, where permitted by law, without any further notice, review or consent to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter in perpetuity and throughout the World, your entry, including, without limitation, the entry and winner's name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image or statements about the Contest, and biographical information as news, publicity or information and for trade, advertising, public relations and promotional purposes without any further compensation.
10. Terms: The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest should (in its sole discretion) a virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Contest. In such case, The Sponsor may judge submissions from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by The Sponsor. The The Sponsor.reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website or violates these Terms & Conditions.
The Sponsor has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Contest, to void entries for any reason, including, but not limited to; multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Contest rules; or the use of bots, macros or scripts or other technical means for entering. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, The Sponsor. reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of Liability: By entering you agree to release and hold harmless The Sponsor and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from (i) such entrant's participation in the contest and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof, (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any computer, cable, network, hardware or software; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions or telephone or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (v) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries.
12. Disputes: THIS CONTEST IS GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF UNITED STATES AND CA, WITHOUT RESPECT TO CONFLICT OF LAW DOCTRINES. As a condition of participating in this Contest, participant agrees that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in CA having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, other than participant's actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Contest), and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
