Are you tired of reading about the UK's 'most Instagrammable spots' and seeing the same images constantly flooding social media? Are you looking for a new Insta project during the holidays that won't see you rubbing shoulders with crowds of other photographers? It's easy to take a nice-looking shot of a sandy beach, a misty mountain or an iconic building, but what about the rest of the country? We're convinced that, with the right kit and skills, even the most 'unattractive' place or unpopular location can be made to look good.
We surveyed the British public to find the ten 'least Instagrammable' locations, then teamed up with social collective Take More Photos to shoot five of them. Now, it's over to you as we ask you to submit your best images of the remaining five places on the list, or a shot of your own take on the UK's least Instagrammable location. Whether you intend to use unusual lighting to show a spot in a new way, focus in on a particular detail to create an abstract piece, or simply capture a location from a unique angle, we want to see what you can do. As well as the kudos and community feedback you'll get, we'll also award a £100 Wex voucher for the best shot in each of the five locations, plus another £100 voucher for the best image of a location not on the list!
To take part in the project, choose a location from the list below – or select a new location from your own experience – and submit your best shot of it via Instagram using the hashtag #LeastInstagrammable. You can use any technique or gear you like, whether you're a seasoned pro using a top-end full-frame camera or a newbie using a smartphone. You can also take a new shot or use one from your achieve, as long as any image you submit is your own work. And remember, your chosen location may be quite remote, so you can remain Covid-secure while shooting – just make sure you stay safe wherever you go.
