Early morning at Peyto Lake, Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦

Petyo auaroa! On my last night in Canada, a few weeks ago, debbiestrongphotography and I went up to moriane lake to catch the milky way. rachel_jones_ross decided to sit this one out, as she had some things to attend to - but kept an eye on Aurora data for us to relay via satellite phone. Oddly enough, the Aurora data never showed anything noteworthy. However, out of habit, I always do north facing test images - just to see. Well, while at moraine, a test image revealed that there was some auroral activity! So Debbie and I packed up and headed over to peyto. As we have been trying to get Aurora over this lake for a week or so already. Ha! I am super thrilled to have been able to catch this small Aurora show, while the moonlight lit up the valley quite beautifully. However, I missed the good show by a mere 24 hours. Lol! (The images I posted from the lighthouse in Michigan). Debbie and Rachel got some beautiful images from the better showing. Lol... But alas! Beggars cant be choosers.. and someday I'll be there at the right time. #paitence :) It's still a gorgeous location and always a good night under the stars! 📍PEYTO LAKE🇨🇦 Located on Icefields Parkway and inside Banff National Park, Peyto Lake is a must-see while in the Rockies.💙 Tips: - come early in the morning or late in the afternoon to beat the crowds - no need to wait for a sunny day to be able to see this magnificent blue color - There are two observation points: either the wooden platform (10 min away from the parking lot) or bow summit (where we took the pictures - 25 min away from the parking lot) - people usually stop at the wooden platform and don't go to Bow summit (2,6 km return), so you know what to do to be alone - toilets available in the parking lot - combine your visit with Bow Lake which is located 15 minutes away by car (see previous post for all info) Stephy & Damien * * * Situé sur la promenade des Glaciers et à l'intérieur du parc national de Banff, le lac Peyto est un incontournable lors d'un séjour dans les Rocheuses.💙 Conseils : - venez tôt le matin ou tard l'après-midi pour éviter la foule - pas besoin d'attendre une journée ensoleillée pour pouvoir voir cette magnifique couleur bleue - Il y a deux points d'observation : soit la plateforme en bois (à 10 min du parking), soit le sommet Bow (où nous avons pris les photos - à 25 min du parking). - en général, les gens s'arrêtent à la plateforme en bois et ne vont pas au sommet Bow (2,6 km aller-retour), donc vous savez quoi faire pour être seuls - toilettes disponibles sur le parking - combinez votre visite avec celle du lac Bow qui est situé à 15 minutes en voiture (voir le post précédent pour toutes les infos) Stephy & Damien . . #peytolake #albertatourism #banffnationalpark #adventurecouple #travelcouple #banffnationalpark #canadianrockies #voyaged #voyagedereve #voyageursdumonde #worldtraveler #canadatravel #lake
