2024 CoNPS Annual Photo Contest Rules & Prizes

Have you taken some spectacular photos in 2024 or in past years?

If so, consider entering our annual photo contest.  Photos may only be submitted online here.

Entries will be accepted from July 15 through August 31.

All CoNPS members will be eligible to vote for their favorite photo in each category.

Winners will be announced at the annual conference.

Contest Terms

Entries may be submitted from July 15 through August 31.  Images must be original and previously unpublished photos.  Photos will be judged prior to the Annual Conference by online voting on this website by members of CoNPS.

All members are eligible to submit one vote for their favorite photo in each of the five categories of photos from September 1 through September 18. Photo winners will be announced at the Annual Conference.  Any photo submitted must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant.  No more than one photo per category may be submitted by a photographer.  Photos taken in previous years may be submitted.  Contest entrants must be a member of CoNPS .  Photos will be accepted by entry using this form only.  Entries must be submitted in .jpg format of 300 ppi or larger.

Types of Photos

Five categories of photos will be accepted.  Images must feature native plants, native plants with wildlife or landscapes from Colorado.  Entries must include plant identification (Genus, species and/or common name).  A cash prize of $50 will be awarded to the image receiving the most votes in each category.  Photos that do not contain Colorado native plants or Colorado native plant habitats as the main theme will not be accepted.  Photos can be in either vertical or horizontal format.

3) Artistic interpretation of Colorado Native Plants.  Artists welcome!  Photo of your fine art painting or an altered photograph or collage are acceptable.  Must be a recognizable native plant with identification.

4) Colorado Native Plants & Wildlife (including insects/pollinators)

5)Colorado Native Plant Gardens

By submitting a photo(s) you give CoNPS permission to use your photo(s) in any form deemed appropriate.  You agree that CoNPS has the right to reproduce and use photo(s) on their websites, products, enews and in printed materials with the photographers name.  Copyright to images remains with the photographer.  Note that entry to the competition allows CoNPS to use images on the Society website, enews and Aquilegia to promote native plants in Colorado and Society promotions unless the photographer opts out by email communication.
